WHAT IS INTRINSICALLY SAFE?
Intrinsically safe means means
"Inherently Safe". Intrinsically
safe equipment is defined as:
"equipment as wiring which is
incapable of releasing
sufficient thermal or electrical
energy under normal or abnormal
conditions. To cause ignition of
a specific hazardous atmospheric
mixture in it's most easily
ignited concentration". This is
achieved by limiting power
available to (and generated by)
the electrical equipment in the
hazardous area to a level below
that which will not ignite the
hazardous materials.
The Intrinsically Safe Barrier
provides intrinsically safe
outputs for connection to
non-inductive resistive devices,
switches, RTD's, input of PLC
and thermocouples or a variety
of sensors in Class 1, Group D
locations.
